Thank you for trusting us with your vinyl wrap graphics or color change. We have taken care to apply vinyl in the best possible way to ensure it will look great and hold up for a long time. We pride ourselves on holding to the highest standards in the industry for our work. Now it’s up to you to take care of your new investment. It is essential to wash your wrapped vehicle regularly to keep it in great condition and also prolong its lifespan. The following are our recommendations for doing so.
HAND WASH
The old fashioned way is always the best.
Directions: Pre-rinse your vehicle before you do anything. This is to avoid scratches on the surface. Use a sponge to wash with a mild soapy water solution. It is recommended to do it from the top of your vehicle to the bottom. Do not scrub if not necessary, or abrasion will occur. When the washing is done, rinse the wrap thoroughly with clean water. Let the film dry naturally (If you can’t wait, then grab a silicone squeegee to remove water to avoid spotting, then use a microfiber towel to finish drying.
Tips: Be careful when cleaning the edge to avoid lifting. Do not use any detergent with abrasive components, strong solvents, or alcohols. Always test the detergent before using (in an inconspicuous spot of the wrap).
WATERLESS WASH
When your car is not too dirty, waterless is an excellent choice for you. Those related products will keep the gloss level and performance of your wrap in good shape. But make sure you test them before you widely use any of those on your vehicle. It will be a disaster if the product you use turns out to be containing wax, glossy spots will then appear. When the washing is done let it dry naturally or dab it dry with a micro-fiber towel.
AUTOMATIC CAR WASH
Not the best way for wrapped car cleaning but acceptable if there is limited options. Be aware though that automated brush wash can be a disaster, as the brush might catch the edge of the film, leaving damaging marks or causing scratches, lifting, or dulling of the surface. Skip the the wax and polish option. Most waxes contain petroleum distillate, which will damage the film. If you still want to use them make sure that the wax does not contain such ingredient. For MATTE film it’s absolutely a NO because the wax will result in filling the texture and shiny spots will appear here and there on your wrap.
PRESSURE WASHER
This should be the last method you can come up with when no other ways can work. Using a pressure washer may result in negative effects occurring on your wrap, including edge-lifiting and face degradation.
If you still decide to use this method:
- Water pressure must be below 1200 psi (8-bars or 84kg/cm^2)
- Water temperature below 180 degrees F (80 degrees C)
- The nozzle has to be at least 12 inches away from the edges
A NOTE ABOUT CLIMATE
If you are consistently driving in congested urban settings or industrial areas, you may need to wash your vehicle more frequently because of smog or pollutants in the air can hurt the durability of the wrap. Also if you do a lot of driving in high elevations the increased UV exposure can shorten life of the wrap.
Congratulations on your newly wrapped vehicle!
